Example 1 of an implant placement to replace this front tooth #8 with Dr. Greg Friedman
Example 2 of a new patient we saw this week in the office with several implants including front teeth, #8, & #9
Often patients call our practice asking, “How much do you charge for dental implants”? We, for the very reason illustrated in the two radiographs above do not quote fees over the phone. My best advice to patients seeking a dental professional for minor or extensive dentistry is to do your research.
Do not just make your decision strictly from a quoted cost you received over the phone. Experience does matter when it comes to dentistry. From the materials used to the education of the dentist. Just because a dentist claims to be a specialist for a particular procedure does not mean they are. As proven in the above second radiograph completed by a “dental implant specialist”. Use your online resources wisely. Sites such as Yelp & Google are great tools to research a dentist and his/her practice. But buyer beware! “Just the other day I saw a “dental implant specialist” that had two Yelp accounts. One with 2.5 stars and right next to it a new Yelp account under a different name with 5 stars for the same “dental implant specialist”, stated Dr. Friedman. Both accounts do show next to each other when searching this particular practice. This for example is something to be aware of and notice.
Our patient above has not or will not ever need a removable “flipper” or appliance at all during his implant process unlike other practices. This puts our patients at ease and comfortable while going through the implant process. At Mod Squad Dental, not only are our doctors looking for the implant placement to be functional but also aesthetically pleasing as if it were a real tooth.

Tooth loss can occur at any age and for a variety of reasons. Some people have missing teeth because of severe tooth decay or serious injury. For others, the reason is advanced gum disease that necessitated tooth extraction. Why you have a tooth missing is less important than making sure you have a tooth replacement. At Mod Squad Dental, Dr. Greg Friedman and the team use dental implants Scripps Ranch residents can count on to renew their smiles and provide strength and security when they chew and speak.

Although there are other options when it comes to tooth replacement—crown and bridge, partial and full dentures—there really isn’t a more natural choice than dental implants. Unlike your other choices, dental implants replace both the root and crown of a missing tooth. What could be more natural? If you have one or more missing teeth, then consider restoring your smile with dental implants from Dr. Greg Friedman at Mod Squad Dental in San Diego, CA.
Regardless of why you have a missing tooth—severe decay, injury, root canal failure, congenital defect—it’s important to replace that tooth. A missing tooth can cause other oral health problems, including shifting teeth, an improper bite and a greater likelihood of gum disease. Moreover, you may have difficult eating, speaking and smiling freely.
What is a Dental Implant?
Dental implants are small posts, usually made of titanium, that are surgically placed into the bone beneath the open socket of your missing tooth. They mimic the root portion of natural teeth and also serve as an anchor for replacement teeth. Dental implants can also be used to secure a full or partial denture, in which case the implants are strategically positioned along the arch. Over time, the bone fuses with the implant, to create a solid foundation for replacement teeth.
At Mod Squad Dental, the surgical portion of the dental implant procedure is performed by Dr. Tina Beck, a periodontist who works at Mod Squad Dental on Fridays. After a few months when you’ve completely healed from surgery, you’ll return to Mod Squad Dental for Dr. Friedman to secure the crown to the post. When finished, you’ll have a natural looking tooth for a natural-looking smile.

Having an incomplete smile is never something that is easy to live with. We see perfect smiles everyday on television and in magazines, and if you are insecure about your smile, looking at such images can make you feel embarrassed and less than. Having a smile that is not full is not only detrimental to your smile, but also to your body as a whole. Though you may have considered dentures and partials as teeth replacements, you may be wanting more of a permanent solution to your smile needs. Thankfully, Mod Squad Dental is able to restore your smile to its full brilliance using dental implants with Dr. Tina Beck.
One of the wonderful things about dental implants is that they are a permanent solution to having a smile that is incomplete. You are able to have a completely new smile that is all yours, and looks completely natural! Though many people may not realize it, if you have a smile that has teeth missing, it can result in a greater chance of gum disease, bone loss, tooth loss, and could cause the other teeth in your smile to shift in order to make up for the extra space.
Dr. Beck will have to set up a consultation with you in order to evaluate the state of your smile, your gum tissue health, and your bone density. It is important to make sure you are a candidate for dental implants to ensure amazing results. Dental implants involve embedding a titanium post into your jaw bone. This will replace the missing too root, and, over time, will fuse with the bone in your jaw, creating a strong bond. After the right amount of healing time, Dr. Friedman will create the crown, also known as the restoration. The crown resembles a tooth exactly, making your smile makeover look natural! Conventional bridges and dentures can help you maintain facial structure and oral health, but they’re not the only solution to consider. Dental implants are a popular and effective alternative.
With dental implants, Dr. Friedman and Dr. Tina Beck, a local periodontist, can help you fill the gaps in your smile and enjoy natural functionality again. That’s because dental implants replace more than just your missing teeth, they also replace your missing tooth roots.
Your tooth roots are important for two reasons. First, they anchor your teeth to your jaw, providing you with a strong, stable bite. Second, they promote the growth of new bone tissue in the jaw so that your jaw stays strong throughout your life.
Conventional restorative services replace your missing teeth, but not your roots. Dental implants, on the other hand, replace both.
But are dental implants right for you? To find out, call Mod Squad Dental today to reserve a consultation appointment with our team. During your appointment, Dr. Friedman will measure the bone density of your jaw to see if you can support one or more implants.
If you aren’t currently a candidate, it may be possible to become one. Otherwise, our San Diego team can recommend one or more alternatives to help you replace what you’ve lost and enjoy better oral health.
We look forward to helping you.
